Nothing like coming home from work, and having to go straight back to work.
I hope this little guy makes it. He was pecking at ants during the car ride,
so he obviously wants to live. Ants are huge pests down here in Los Angeles.
He's a fighter, getting taken care of at the sanctuary. I think he'll make it.
Giant sugar pine cones make perfect bird feeders. You can find them
yourself in the wild lands of the Sierra Nevada, parts of Oregon & SoCal-
or you can purchase them directly from people who collect them, like myself:
PURCHASE GIANT SUGAR PINE CONES HERE
Bird Feeder - How To? Simple:
Take a giant sugar pine cone - add cord - cover the cone
in natural peanut butter - add seeds, raisins, whatever you wish!
The birds will be all over it. Then hang on a tree, or wherever.
Lots of drunken birds and birds that get injured around here.
This yellow warbler accidentally flew into my parked car when I stepped
out of my RV. He became disoriented but I figured he'd be alright after
a few minutes. An hour later I became a bit more worried, and tried to feed
him a worm. Luckily this brought him back to reality and he flew back off,
this time avoiding my car, as you can see in the 2nd video. :)
The frog hung out for a while with me but the turkeys were chased up the trees by the pitbull...
They actually appeared right after a very special moment for me. It was kind of perfect & funny at once. Ha.
The black-capped chickadees are loving the snacks...
For the birdhouse -
Pretty much used scrap wood, logs, bark & branches from around the yard.
Now For the bird feeder -
It's a simple design with an orange juice container as the first layer, camo
duct tape as the second layer, bark and twig as the top layer.
Suki & Stella dog are just watching all the action!
I am making many friends in the yard....this little guy (or girl) fell
off the roof of the work shop here and tumbled to the ground next to my
feet. I was scared he was injured...but he was fine. I fed him some worms
until he was able to get his strength back up. He hung out with me for a
few hours, drunkenly attempted to fly off several times later in the day
until finally he was able. He still comes around every so often for a visit....
